Guidelines for Disciples of Jesus Christ
Guidelines for Disciples of Jesus Christ are six of the Bible’s commands to Go, Serve, Love, Teach, Baptize, Make Disciples. Traditionally, Ministries excel as they Go, Serve, Love. Churches excel as they Love, Teach, Baptize, Make Disciples.
The Great Commandment
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
The Great Commission
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19
Teaching
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. John 8:31
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” 2 Timothy 3:16
Priority – “the least of these”
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40
