This page describes how these Actions to Change Your Life have been organized as a successful 12-week course. The course ran 26 times from 2009 to 2022. Classes met in person for ten years and then were virtual on Zoom for three years. Then Action topics were placed online for use by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Learn Biblical Values and Career Skills from some of the most esteemed pastors and instructors in the country. In a small group you have access to a mentor and to a career coach. We are all volunteers and the course is free.
The training equips you for the work and ministry that will expand your unique skills and gifts as you contribute them to the world.
In each class, you learn individually and also in a small group
You are assigned to a small group which has about five members, all men or all women. A typical group has a few Participants who have a serious need, a Christian Mentor, and someone who serves as a Career Coach.
This can be a Change-Your-Life℠ ministry for your church, ministry or neighborhood
Course curriculum and content
Classes met weekly by Zoom for 12 weeks and then a Graduation. The curriculum is in the 158-page Know-How to Change-Your-Life course workbook. Each virtual class teaches a timeless Biblical Value and a lifelong Career Skill. Your group has its weekly meeting in a breakout session and you discuss your short term plan and any help you need.
Look at the Values and Skills that are presented. The first class is called Being a Christian and Defining Your Goals, outlined here. Do you have to be a Christian to take the course? NO.
How your small group works
Questions for your small group discussion reinforce the Value and the Skill and how to apply them in your own lives. Participants present their near future key results.
Your Christian Mentor keeps the discussion on track, and helps in understanding the timeless values. She provides support, counsel and correction on a regular basis. She encourages steps that will transform lives. For any who are interested, she may recognize where you might be along the typical steps people take to become a Christian and disciple, and know how to encourage the next step.
Your Career Coach counsels Participants as they take steps to choose their careers and gain employment. Some may need practical assistance completing assigned worksheets and exercises.

Graduates prayerfully will find a church and a job, be strengthened spiritually, have a career action plan, and want to stay engaged to help others receive the same benefits. Participants have an opportunity to explore being a Christian. Your church, ministry or neighborhood gains new strength.
How to start your Change-Your-Life℠ Ministry group
Participants
As a servant leader, identify a Participant to be served. He or she may know others. A Participant might be unemployed, underemployed, homeless, in addiction recovery, a victim of domestic violence or trafficking, a re-entrant second-chance citizen, a veteran, or someone seeking to become or advance as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Participants might be in your Church, Neighborhood, or Foreign Mission or in a Domestic Violence shelter, Pro-Life Center, Homeless Shelter, Addiction Recovery House, Halfway House, Transitional Housing or Re-entry program. We encourage serving “the least of these”. Matthew 25:44
Try to have about three Participants. The exact number is not crucial.
Christian Mentor
An early founder in this movement said a Mentor is someone who knows the scripture, loves the Lord and is waiting to be called. The Mentor encourages the Participants in steps that will transform their lives. He or she provides support, counsel and correction on a regular basis. See more about Mentor here …

The Career Coach brings experience in management or human resources to help career-changing and job-seeking Participants identify marketable skills, interests, and job objectives, tune resumes, do practice interviews, network for informational and job interviews, and find ideal jobs.
